TUDOR Goes Big in Japan!

Steeped in a 1,500 year-old history, Sumo wrestling is a proud traditional culture and a universal sporting phenomenon. Now, TUDOR is stepping into the world of tradition through a new partnership with the Japan Sumo Association and its exclusive universe, the Grand Sumo.

At first it might seem diametrically opposed – a watch brand using the latest technology to product the best possible Swiss mechanical price and an ancient Japanese combat tradition rooted in Shinto religion – but look a little closer and you’ll notice harmony.

A stringent adherence to established customs is shared between TUDOR and the Grand Sumo, along with a focus on consistency and commitment to embrace modernity while remaining firmly rooted in its unchanging values.

Dedicated to preserving its traditions, the Japan Sumo Association continues to share its culture with the world to showcase the Grand Sumo in its finest form. Following the success of the 2025 London tournament, the Association is set to take the stage in Paris in 2026 and beyond.

Sumo Wrestlers are Born to Dare

Sumo wrestlers are a different breed. Their physiques, boasting some of the highest muscle mass measurements on earth are the result of extreme, repetitive daily training. To embrace sumo tradition is to make a commitment to live a daring life.

The life of a sumo wrestler, called a rikishi, exists within a heya, or stable, dedicating every day to rigorous practice. Beyond wearing traditional garb, they must adhere to strict discipline and constant self-restraint. This quiet stoicism and humility define their way of life.

True daringness doesn’t always means loud and fast extreme sports; instead, it is found in the daily discipline that pushes mind and body to their limit, and the devotion of one’s life to long term success in the sumo tradition. The same holds true to TUDOR’s daring approach to watchmaking.

And you know what they say about guys with big, powerful wrists? Big watches! That’s right. Which is why the Black Bay 68, Black Bay Chrono, and Pelagos Ultra are right at home in the arenas of the Grand Sumo, reflecting the shared power and dignity of both worlds.

Black Bay 68

The TUDOR Black Bay 68 is among the largest Black Bay watches, 43mm, and meets the demand for various cases sizes to fit all types of wrists. The watch’s size is also matched by the movement’s Master Chronometer Certification by METAS.

Available in two dial colour configurations – blue and silver – the Black Bay 68 means business, and takes its name from 1968, the year in which TUDOR designed their new iconic “Snowflake” hands.

Black Bay Chrono

TUDOR has been producing watches that are closely tied to the world of motor sport since 1970, when the brand introduced its first chronograph.

Combining this heritage in a sport-chic chronograph, with contrasting sub-counters and a high-performance automatic Manufacture Calibre, the Black Bay Chrono is available with a 41mm steel case and the option of a three-link or five-link bracelet.

Pelagos Ultra

Engineered specifically to overcome the challenges associated with saturation diving, the TUDOR Pelagos Ulta is the most technically capable Pelagos ever made, with 1,000m of water resistance, a proprietary bracelet adjustment system, and a 43mm titanium case.

Representing a giant stride in technical advancements with a Master Chronometer Certification from METAS, the Pelagos Ultra sets a new benchmark in precision and performance, combining exceptional timekeeping accuracy with uncompromising robustness in extreme environments.
