Since Tokyo was the birthplace of King Seiko, the design theme of the modern VANAC is centred around this world-renowned metropolis through ‘Tokyo Horizon;’ a series of watches expressing the city of Tokyo stretching out over the skyline. The deep midnight blue dial of this ‘Tokyo Midnight’ timepiece is inspired by the sky in the middle of the night over the Tokyo cityscape.

In the 1960s, "King Seiko" originated when multiple Seiko watchmakers created different watches to encourage innovation - one of the Japanese brand's constant aims. Today, the new King Seiko VANAC channels Seiko archive inspiration from the iconic 1970s collection of the same name. 

The name "VANAC" is an acronym of the model's original design features: V for a ‘Vibrant case design;’ A for ‘Active lifestyle’ – for both formal and informal occasions; N for ‘Novel dial ring’ – its angular edges resembling a metropolis cityscape; A for ‘Alternative dial design’ – a 3-dimensional dial design inspired by the horizon; C for ‘Comfortable bracelet’ – a short-pitch length bracelet, completed with a mirror and hairline finish.
