Created to commemorate the 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championships where Seiko will be Official Timekeepers, this limited edition model continues the brand's heritage of watchmaking and timekeeping. With its dial the official colours of the competition, "Edo-Muraski", meaning Tokyo Purple, is one of Japan's traditional heritage colours - originally from a textile dye using purple grass native to Musashino during the period when Tokyo was known as Edo.

The case back of the Seiko Speedtimer features the World Athletics Championship Tokyo 2025 logo, and the timepiece's limited edition number. Powered by a solar movement, which is conveniently charges by natural and artificial light, the watch's chronograph functionality allows for the accurate measurement of elapsed time.
